Safe Ways To Lose Fat

by Wendy D Hearn

For many people their goal is to lose fat. Having extra fat on our bodies doesn’t feel good, we know its not healthy for us and it affects how attractive we feel. We dream of looking in the mirror and seeing a slim, sexy body staring back at us instead of the body we currently have that has extra fat and looks unsightly.

Although you’d probably love this fat to go as quickly as possibly I’m sure you’re aware that they are healthy and unhealthy ways of doing this. Unhealthy ways usually mean diet pills and fad diets which we know are really harmful to our bodies. So, a safe way to lose this fat is what is called for and although it will take a little work, once you’ve achieved your fat loss, the healthy habits are likely to stay with you. This means you’re much less likely to gain the fat back again.

So, there are two essential elements you need to lose your fat. One is exercise and the other is healthy eating.

Starting with exercise. Even of you’re someone who does not like the idea of having to do traditional exercise, there are enjoyable and efficient ways to burn fat. One option is interval training. Slow-fast manipulation of heart rate for fat burning is the basis for interval training. For instance, if you alternate walking at a even pace with quick sprints your body will be surprised, causing you to experience muscle confusion, and you will burn increased fat as you exercise.

For healthy eating you need to change your eating habits and one of these changes means trimming your consumption of foods that contain saturated fats. These fats are found in greasy, deep fried foods and high fat meat. Choose instead foods that can be baked or grilled and lean meats such as turkey or chicken or fish.

You now have some ideas of safe ways to lose your fat and I suggest you continue finding out how to burn the fat from your body.

If Dieting Doesn’t Work, What Does?

by Wendy D Hearn

It is clear by the state of our nation, that diets just do not work. People are growing more and more overweight with each passing year despite the plethora of diet pills, diet plans and diet solutions. There is only one real way to lose weight and that is to take the control of your life and your eating habits back and change how you look at food on a daily basis.

The first step in permanent weight loss is to change the way we look at food. For far too long, people have celebrated with food, cried with food and allowed food to become the center of their world. When things go well in life, food is always there. When times are tough and we need a friend, food is there to comfort our tears. This control and friendship with food, can change and manifest into an obsession that causes us to gain weight. Taking back the power over our own bodies means eating to live and not living to eat.

In order to take back that control, every person will need to look carefully into their own lives. Food plays a far different role for one person than another. This role and the weaknesses unique to you, need to be the center of your new eating plan. Identify your problem areas with foods, create a way to eliminate the problem foods and any situations surrounding these foods and fill in the new gap with a healthier food choice that is very similar to the food you eliminated.

In addition to reducing or removing those trouble foods, working on portion sizes, controlling sugars and simple carbohydrates, and adding exercise to a daily life plan are all great places to make the needed changes to lose weight. The key is to take this new life one step at a time. One week may be all about studying the right amount of foods to eat with each meal and the next about adding 10 minutes of exercise to your life each day.

Education will be the best friend any person trying to lose weight will have. Learning about the right foods to eat, the right sizes for each meal and the caloric needs for the body will all help to make this new life one you can live with and lose weight with. Healthy eating knowledge is better than any diet pill, diet plan or diet solution in a box. Your life deserves the time and attention to making those healthy choices.

Burn Fat Faster By Eating Breakfast

by Wendy D Hearn

When you are trying to lose weight, you may have tried a lot of different diets that did not work. Fad diets are especially popular because they help you to lose weight quickly. They don’t work because once you eat regularly, the weight will return along with a few extra pounds. One gimmick that is often tested by people looking to lose weight is the skipping of breakfast.

Some may feel that they are jump starting their weight loss regiment by cutting out a few extra calories, but you will end up hurting yourself and your diet in the long run. When you become hungry from not eating breakfast, it’s easy to reach for something unhealthy and you end up consuming a lot of empty calories.

Eating breakfast every morning is a great way to burn fat fast because it will help to boost your metabolism. On the other hand, if you skip breakfast, your metabolism will actually slow down. You will help your metabolism to burn fat instead of storing it, which is something that it will do if you do not eat when you are supposed to.

When you don’t eat breakfast or other meals during the day, your body will begin to think that it is starving. Remember that you have just woken up, so your body was not receiving food during those hours of sleep. When you tack on the hours in the morning used when you skipped breakfast, you are looking at 10 to 12 hours or more. Once your body believes that it is starving, it will kick into protection mode. To help protect itself, your body will begin to store fat instead of burning it.

If instead you eat breakfast, your body will get started in the morning by burning the fat stored during sleep. If you continue to eat throughout the day, your body will continue to burn fat because your metabolism was turned on at breakfast time.

This does not mean that you should pig out on junk food all day. Look at a diet plan and they will usually have a healthy snack somewhere among the instructions. Generally they will tell you to eat breakfast, a healthy snack, lunch, another healthy snack and then dinner. You can even eat more than three meals a day by eating small meals all day long. Your metabolism will do a continuous burn because its getting a healthy fuel throughout your busy day. When you add exercise to this regiment, you will burn fat quickly and lose a lot of weight.

You should aim to eat breakfast no more than an hour after you wake up, to help kick start your metabolism as early as possible. You may believe that starving yourself and skipping breakfast and lunch is a good way to lose weight, but remember that you have to eat to survive. You also need energy and skipping meals will have you feeling sluggish all day. T o compensate, millions of people are living on coffee and energy drinks as their first meals of the day. A good breakfast will help to give you energy and a healthy body.

What’s on the Menu of the South Beach Diet?

by Linda Miller

One of biggest draw-backs to many diets is the “forbidden” foods list. It is human nature to desire the things we know we can’t have, and this seems to magnify when you’re on a diet. Dieting is difficult enough without the disappointment of having to eat foods you don’t like.

You will be pleased to learn that this is something that cannot be said about the South Beach Diet. If the question of what you can eat on this diet arises, it would be far quicker to tell you what you cannot eat!

There is no “forbidden fruit” on the South Beach Diet. This program simply teaches you how to enjoy the foods you love in a healthier way. For example, if you are a meat lover, the South Beach Diet doesn’t say, “You can never eat red meat again!” Rather, the South Beach Diet teaches you how to eat red meat sensibly, by choosing smaller, leaner cuts.

When you are first considering the South Beach Diet, have a long look at Phase 1. This is the most restricted part of the diet, yet you will find it is surprisingly varied and quite a few of the things you would expect you are not allowed are there on the menu.

Low in fat or fat free cheese along with beef, pork, eggs, low fat lunch meat and poultry are all allowed so long as you avoid greasy or fatty portions. For all you seafood lovers, you will be delighted to discover that products from the sea are allowed and even encouraged throughout all phases of the South Beach Diet. If you have a sweet tooth, that’s no problem, but you must keep your sweet allowance to 75 calories each day. Phase 1 is the strictest part of the diet but you still have the choice to include your favorite foods so you can see that this diet will be easy to stick to.

One of the reasons the South Beach Diet is so successful, is that you learn how to adapt your own recipes to make them healthier. Phase 1 restricts you to using only canola oil or olive oil, but you will find this actually enhances the taste of your food. You are also advised to use low-fat dairy products during Phase 1, but this is only for two weeks. From that point on, preparing home-cooked meals is a breeze.

During Phase 1, you eliminate fruits, full-fat dairy foods and grains from your diet. After two weeks of this, your cravings for these foods are drastically reduced, and once your body is cleansed of these negative nutrients, your digestive system works better and you will lose weight more easily and consistently.

Although the South Beach Diet menu does ask you to make adjustment to the food you eat, you will be pleased with the types of food you can still enjoy. By following the South Beach Diet, you will learn how to eat everything in a healthier manner, and this will lead to healthy and permanent weight loss.

How To Lose Weight A Few Seconds At A Time

by Wendy D Hearn

Losing weight is a process and a journey which is made up of small steps along a path of smart choices about good nutrition and regular exercise toward a clearly visible goal - a healthy lifestyle of fitness and physical as well as mental wellbeing. Each small step in the right direction on this golden path to your ultimate goal takes but a brief second. Therefore, it is safe to claim that weight loss takes mere seconds but the results can last a lifetime.

To ensure that your feet remain on the proper path, pointing you in the right direction and continue to carry you toward the goal line which needs to always remain in your mind’s eye, it is best to proceed by asking yourself relevant questions each time you find yourself in danger of steering off course.

When you catch your hand reaching for a bag of potato chips rather than a golden apple, challenge yourself with the following question: “Am I making a smart choice here? Will this continue to advance me toward my goal?”

When you recognize the loaded plate before you and you’re about to devour its contents ask yourself, “Do I really need to eat so much food? Would I rather trade that plate for the weight loss I am striving for?”

When you’ve returned home from a late night movie and you dive into the refrigerator to extract a leftover pizza, don’t hesitate to question the wisdom of this move by reminding yourself that, “I’m not really hungry now and I shouldn’t be eating so late at night just before going to sleep. Do I really need that greasy pizza which will undermine all that I’ve accomplished so far?”

I am willing to bet that ninety-nine percent of the time you will respond in a way that retains you on the right path and you should be proud of yourself for achieving that.

And while you’re in the process of asking yourself questions regarding the choices you make about food, ask yourself questions about physical activities.

Notice how frantically you are pouncing on the only unoccupied parking spot close to the entrance of the supermarket and ask yourself, “Do I really have to park so close? Why couldn’t I leave this spot for the elderly, the weak and the lazy while I park on the far end of the lot where the parking spots are plentiful?” You’d be doing yourself and your body a favor by walking those extra few feet.

Intercept your intent to watch TV by asking, “What will this hour or two on the couch do for me? Wouldn’t I rather take my dog out for a walk?”

You’re visiting a friend who lives on a second floor condo and you’re about to call the elevator. Stop and ask yourself, “Couldn’t I walk those two flights of stairs?”

To summarize it all, losing weight is simply making different choices about the food you eat and about your body’s mobility. The more discriminatory you become about the food you ingest and the more you get your body to move, the quicker you will reach your goal - a healthy lifestyle of fitness and physical as well as mental wellbeing.
